DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- SINCERE PREACHING

SINCERE PREACHING
II Corinthians 2:17

"For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ."

It was prevalent in the early church and it is prevalent today. There is always the temptation for preachers to abuse their calling by turning their ministry into "peddling the word of God," either for their own profit or for gaining a following. If the preacher is more interested in the offering plate and his salary than in telling the Good News, he has succumbed to the wrong motives. A symptom of this disease is if he will only go where the pay is good. It is a real challenge to remain pure in motive.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The preacher of the gospel must always keep an eye on his motives to remain sincere in the sight of God.

Thank God today for sincere preachers. Love you.
