DAD'S RAMBLINGS – Remember Who You Are
I Kings 18:31
"And Elijah took twelves stones, according to the number of the tribes of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, 'Israel shall be your name.' "
God had changed the name of Jacob to Israel as a sign that he had a special calling – no longer Jacob the deceiver, but Israel, a Prince with God (Genesis 32:28; 35:10). By rebuilding the altar with 12 stones, I think that Elijah was reminding the people who they were and where they had come from. They were a special people with a godly heritage who had drifted far from their spiritual roots to serve other gods. I need to remember that in whatever I do, I am a Christian of the lineage of Christ. To forsake that is to wander into the wasteland of idol worship.
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Christians need to remember who they are and where they came from.
Have a remembering day. Love you.
