Dad's Ramblings -- Self-examination

EXAMINATION TIME
I Corinthians 11:28-31

"But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep [are dead]. For if we judge ourselves, we would not be judged."

I have heard people pooh-pooh the practice of self-examination at Communion time. But I take it very seriously. Communion has at its root the word "union." If I am out of relationship with either God or other people, then I violate the very spirit of the ordinance, and I need to repent before I partake of the Lord's Supper. Better to judge myself than to be judged by God.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Self-examination is a part of the Communion experience.

Have a "judging" day. Love you.
