Dad's Ramblings -- Communion

COMMUNION
I Corinthians 10:16-17

"The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we are partakers of that one bread."

Communion – partaking in the Lord's Supper – is always a special time for me. Communion is the word koinoia – sharing, fellowship, participation. In Communion, we share by faith in the death of the Lord Jesus when He suffered and died for our sin. But Paul brings another aspect to the ordinance of Communion. We are also sharing, participating, and fellowshipping with other Believers as we partake together. Communion is a community event, and is not taken in isolation. It is always in the context of the Church body. We are a community of faith and that is demonstrated as we fellowship together around the Communion table.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Communion is sharing in Christ's sacrifice and also in His Body, the Church.

Have a "communion" day. Love you.
