DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- IN HIS TIME

DAD'S RAMBLINGS – IN HIS TIME

"I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of Kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen." (I Timothy 6:13-16)

What a beautiful description of the Lord Jesus who shall appear in His time.

God has a time for everything in His great plan. When God sent His Son the first time into this world to be born of a virgin, it was in the fullness of time (Galatians 4:4). Jesus was crucified on God's timetable on Passover. He rose from the dead after three days – in God's time. And He will come again in God's perfect time.

I am reminded of King Solomon's observation in Ecclesiastes that in this world there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to harvest; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. We live by the calendar.

God also has a timetable, and everything in His purpose happens at the right time. It is not my time but His. I don't know my time to die, but He does. And I don't know when Jesus will return, but God does.

The song says it well: "In His time, In His time, He makes all things beautiful in His time. Lord, please show me every day as You're teaching me Your way, that You do just what You say, in Your time." Or as the David confessed in his song, "But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in Your hand" (Psalm 31:14-15a). While I wait for His time for my home-going – whether by the upper-taker or the under-taker, I my desire is to live blameless and without spot before Him.

Love, Dad
