DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- THE FATHER'S BLESSING

 THE FATHER'S BLESSING
Matthew 3:16-17

"When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold the heavens were opened to Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' "

Even Jesus in His humanity needed to hear His Father say, "Son, I am pleased with You." Those simple words confirmed His identity as the Messiah. Children need affirmation for their identity. I know praise is important to me. I don't remember getting much praise from my father, and I know I don't tell my kids enough how proud I am of them. But even more, I want to live pleasing to my Heavenly Father, "....that [I] may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God" (Colossians 1:10). Some day, I want to hear Him say, "Well, done."

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Verbal affirmation is an important part of a person's identity.

Have a "blessed" day. Love you.
