DAD'S RAMBLINGS – Just Do It!
Romans 10:5
"For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, 'The man who does those things shall live by them."
Paul's argument is based in Moses sermon to the Israelites recorded in Deuteronomy 30:11-16. There Moses tells the people, "The command which I command you today is not too mysterious for you nor is it far off" (vs. 11). In other words, it is not rocket science. It doesn't take some special spiritual knowledge that you have to go into heaven for, or visit some guru across the ocean (vss. 12-13). "But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it" (vs. 14). It is a matter of doing what I know in my heart is right (vs. 16). I just need to live it. Making my actions match what I say and what I believe is called integrity. This is easier said than done, but it is a simple matter of obedience. As the Nike ad would say, "Just do it!"
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Living according to God's righteousness is not complicated but it is not always easy.
