Dad's Ramblings -- The Temple of God

GOD'S DWELLING PLACE
I Corinthians 6:18b-20

"Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

It is a marvelous thing that the God of the universe has chosen to dwell in His people. In the Old Testament system, the presence of God on earth was in the tabernacle and then the temple as the glory of the LORD filled the place (Exodus 40:34-35; K Kings 8:11; II Chronicles 5:14; 7:1-3), and dwelled between the cherubim above the mercy seat (II Kings 19:15). But now we are the temple, and God's presence dwells in us – in our bodies and our spirits. I belong to Him who bought me at great price, and I have a responsibility to take good care of the temple, and not sin against it.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Our bodies and our spirits are God's dwelling place, and we need to take good care of them.

Have an Emanuel (God with us) day. Love you.
