Dad's Ramblings -- Executive Order

EXECUTIVE ORDER

Daniel 6:6-7, 9

"So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him, 'O Darius, live forever. All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statue and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions ....' Therefore, King Darius signed the written decree."

The people under Daniel's authority saw Daniel as a threat to their power. So they persuaded King Darius to issue an Executive Order against anyone who stood against them. The secular (and even religious) establishments view godly people who stand for righteousness as a threat to their power and agenda. The way they handle that threat is to control or get rid of it. It was true in Daniel's day; it is true in our day. Just this week, the Executive branch of the U.S. government issued a decree demanding that faith-based organizations provide contraception insurance to their employees, even though it may violate their long-held religious convictions. This is a clear intrusion of the state into the area of religious belief. The reason is that these beliefs stand opposed to the government's desire for power to control. Anyone who does not bow to the secular agenda is an enemy to be either eliminated or controlled. We are a threat to their lust for power, so expect the attacks to increase. But our God is greater than the worldly government and He will deliver.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: The battle between secularism and faith is an ongoing struggle because secular society wants to control any threat to its power.

Have a "faith" day. Love you.
