THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
II Peter 2:10-11
"...and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries [margin: glorious ones], whereas angels, who are great in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord."
These are not easy verses to understand. But one thing is clear: People who are presumptuous, self-willed egotists who refuse to accept authority – even God – live according to their own lusts. They think they are accountable to no one. Their motto is: "No one is going to tell me what to do." They are antinomians, who live by their own rules, and end up living unclean lives. In their rebellion, they go places even angels fear to tread. A godly person understands and submits to God-ordained authority with humility. This is the path of righteousness.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Godly people submit to God-ordained authority which leads to pure living.
