PRAYER
"After Jesus had gone indoors, His disciples asked Him privately, 'Why couldn't we drive it [the evil spirit] out?' He replied, 'This kind can come out only by prayer.' " (Mark 9:29)
The disciples failed in this spiritual battle because they were trying to do it in their own strength and by their own formula. Spiritual battles require spiritual strategies. How often I fail in my attempts to win spiritual battles because I depend on my own abilities and ideas. Prayer is the essential ingredient because it takes God's power to gain victory over the enemy. I fail because I neglect prayer.
